FACTS ABOUT VENUS

F
ACTS ABOUT VENUS It is the second closest planet to the Sun and is the brightest object in the night sky after the Moon. Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise. Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. Venus is sometimes called Earth's 'sister planet' because of their similar size, mass, density, composition and gravity. Venus is covered with thick clouds of sulphuric acid, which is why it is permanently hidden from view. The surface temperature on Venus is about 462ºC. Venus is one of only two planets in the solar system (the other being Mercury) that has no moon. Venus is unique in our solar system because it is the only planet that rotates in the opposite direction to the rotation of the Sun. Venus is the only planet in our solar system that is not named after a Roman god or goddess. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. The day on Venus (the time it takes for one rotation on its axis) is longer than the year on Venus (the time it takes to orbit the Sun). One day on Venus is the equivalent of 243 Earth days, while one year on Venus is the equivalent of 225 Earth days. Venus is the only planet in the solar system where a day is longer than a year. The theory of relativity

by 'britannica' (www.britannica.com) relativity , wide-ranging physical theories formed by the German-born physicist  Albert Einstein . With his theories of  special relativity  (1905) and  general relativity  (1915), Einstein overthrew many assumptions  underlying  earlier physical theories, redefining in the process the fundamental concepts of  space ,  time ,  matter ,  energy , and  gravity . Along with  quantum mechanics , relativity is central to modern  physics . In particular, relativity provides the basis for understanding cosmic processes and the geometry of the  universe  itself. sun

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma, heated to incandescence by nuclear fusion reactions in its core, radiating the energy mainly as light and infrared radiation. It is by far the most important source of energy for life on Earth. Compared with the billions of other stars in the universe, the  sun  is unremarkable. But for Earth and the other planets that revolve around it, the  sun  is a powerful center of attention. It holds the solar system together; provides life-giving light, heat, and energy to Earth; and generates space weather.
